We all have a limited time on this Earth, and the clock is ticking. If we do not take robust action against climate change, many nations like the Maldives and Seychelles will be in danger, and their natural habitats will become deprived. The Maldives, for instance, are facing a devastating reality as their nation is sinking and could be completely gone in a number of years. According to The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), by 2100, sea levels can potentially rise up to 100 centimeters, which will cover the majority of the nation. This is a reality that is occurring right now, and if nothing is done about it, there can be devastating consequences.

What are the practical steps needed to slow climate change, protect the environment, and, as the ultimate goal, protect the beautiful habitats of our planet? It all comes down to four steps:
  • Spread awareness;
  • Come together as citizens of planet Earth, with governments’ and big corporations’ support and active involvement;
  • Contribute our time and energy to protect the environment;
  • Work out long-term solutions to fix the issues that are currently killing the environment and wildlife.

We at the Ocean Paradise Institute want to actively work with the authorities, maritime wildlife experts, psychologists, and scientists all over the world, to preserve and protect the habitats of uniquely beautiful places such as the Maldives and the Seychelles. When we first came to the Maldives six years ago, we immediately fell in love with the pristine beauty of the country, and with the wildlife on the Seychelle Islands. We are extremely cautious about protecting such unique places from the effects of climate change, overfishing, pollution, plastics in the ocean, ghost nets, and many other striking ills that are literally killing the wildlife, which for the most part have been caused by human endeavors and actions that leave these beautiful places to suffer.

Faced with such issues, we want to adapt the latest technology and discoveries to find incentives for big companies to fight climate change together, fight pollution, and find working long-term solutions for a sustainable future!
